Here we have one in a series of approaches Gauges. Well they aren't really gauges, more utilities. The "gauge" is designed to open up your flight simulation experience by gettingyou to try out flying at other very challenging locations.

 

I found myself going to the same airports over and over again and with the many thousands of airports in the sim I wanted a quick way to visit ones of some significance and in this case make them as challenging as possible.

 

There are 200 very challenging hand placed approaches around the globe. A lot of th approaches are not straight due to mountains being in the way for example! Plus there are 10 custom location you can configure by editing the relevant variables listed in this reference guide. Longitude and Latitude values HAVE to be DEGREES, not Radians or any other format.

 

Select a location from the list press [S6] and off you go.

 

The distance is hard coded to approximately 4 nautical miles and unfortunatly can't be made custom due to the fact gauges can not access airport data. Starting point were all hand placed so not too long for light aircraft and not to close for jets. I tried to strike a balance. The grid location can be edited for each, but wouldn't recommed it as they would get lost if a gauge needed update.

Pressing [S2] Increases the starting approach speed + 5 Knots

 

[S3] Airspeed -5:

Pressing [S3] Decreases the starting approach speed - 5 Knots

 

[S4] Set Time of Day Plus 1 hour

Pressing [S4]rotates through 25 different time settings as displayed on screen

     24 = Off (Local Time)

     0 - 23 = Set Hour

 

[S5] Set Time of Day Minus 1 hour

Pressing [S5]rotates through 25 different time settings as displayed on screen

     24 = Off (Local Time)

     0 - 23 = Set Hour

 

[S6] Go to Selected Airport:

Pressing [S6] relocates your aircraft and start the selected approach. If already on a paused approach then [S6] will unpause

Long Press [S6] Also Un-pauses if started paused.

 

[L Dial] Airport in List Increment/Decrement +/- 1:

Turning [L Dial] counter clockwise moves you back through the list 1 line at a time

Turning [L Dial] clockwise moves you forward through the list 1 line at a time

 

[R Dial] Airport in List Increment/Decrement +/- 5:

Turning [R Dial] counter clockwise moves you back through the list 5 lines at a time

Turning [R Dial] clockwise moves you forward through the list 5 lines at a time

 

 

 

[S1] Settings Menu:

Pressing [S2] toggles the Random Bank and HDG function On and Off

On: HDG and Roll are randomly offset different amounts to make approach a little more hands on.

Off: Straights approach to runway.

 

[S3] Set Time of Day:

Pressing [S5]rotates through 5 different time settings as displayed on screen

     0 = Off (Local Time)

     1 = 12:00 Midday

     2 = 18:00 Evening

     3 = 00:00 Midnight

     4 = 06:00 Morning

 

[S4] Toggle Pause Mode:

Pressing [S4] Toggles on and off the pause on relocation function.

 

[L Dial] Starting Knots Adjustment (40-250)

Turn [L Dial] counter clockwise to decrease the starting Knots

Turn [L Dial] clockwise to increase the starting Knots

 

[R Dial] Starting Altitude Offset (-1000 to +2500)

Turn [R Dial] counter clockwise to decrease the starting Altitude Offset
